Paul Spring and Aidan Duffy
Aidan Duffy from Trim, Cty Meath
Paul Spring is a songwriter and guitarist based in New York City. This will be his third gig at the cobblestone, and serve as album release show for his new album Barnstorm which was recorded in Oranmore, Galway. Between 2023’s Always Almost Home “meshing 90s pop and Bach” (MPR) and the “hidden pop gem” (Irish Times) of 2022ʼs Thunderhead, Spring has experimented with minimal electronic production and folk. Aquarium Drunkard called his album, 2024’s River Flows Two Ways, “a singular fresh offering as well as a catalogue introduction of sorts.” It accompanied a canoe tour down the Hudson River. In 2024 and 2025 he recorded Kind of Heaven and Dumb and Free with drummer and co-producer Jon Nellen. In the summer of 2025, Paul put out an album of original music entirely in Classical Latin entitled Vita Brevis. He has also appeared as a session guitarist and co-writer on Blackthought and El Michels Affair’s Glorious Game, and his guitar playing was sampled on releases by Kenny Beats, Vic Mensa, Sofia Valdez, and Kirby.
Aidan Duffy is a 27-year-old songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer originally from County Meath, now based in Galway. While his work spans a variety of styles, his primary influence remains folk song and Irish traditional music, which underpin his approach to melody and storytelling.
As a solo artist, Aidan has independently released and produced two albums and three EPs, taking full creative control at every stage — from songwriting and production to mixing and touring. As well as drawing massively from the well of folk song, Aidan takes huge inspiration from numerous contemporary artists such as Villagers, Jessica Pratt and David Gray.
His most recent album, Part II, is a deeply personal record written during a period of significant upheaval. Created across 2024 and 2025, the album draws on the end of a long-term relationship, a move west to Galway, and the gradual loss of his father to dementia. While rooted in grief and self-reflection, Part II balances emotional honesty with moments of warmth and forward motion, embracing space through understated arrangements, sensitive guitar work and subtle use of synths, strings and rhythm.
Raised as the youngest of ten home-educated siblings in a creative and highly alternative household, Aidan developed an instinct for emotional nuance and narrative songwriting early on. He currently lives in Oranmore, Co. Galway, where he spends most of his time producing records.
